After a 27 year relationship, I found myself facing the family court in highly unfamiliar surroundings. My immediate reaction was to seek legal advice. The first time I went to court, I had a barrister with me. This turned out to be a total disaster, the experience left me feeling helpless, and ultimately misrepresented.
At this point, I was told by a judge to leave the family home and was unable to contact my daughter. I was distraught. A further court date was scheduled thereafter for a contested hearing. It was the Friday before the hearing scheduled for the following week when I began to do some research online. It was here I became aware of McKenzie Friends. I had never heard of them before and prior to this, it was my understanding that only a Barrister would be allowed in the court.

He was very patient and gave me his time to help me try to relax and understand the situation.
Colin travelled from outside the area to court, and from arrival maintained the same calm and efficient approach. His knowledge and no-nonsense approach put me at ease. Under the circumstances, I couldn’t have hoped for better support. I left the court in a different position and now I can see a pathway back to a relationship with my daughter. From experience, I would never recommend a barrister in such circumstances. Equally, I would not hesitate in recommending Colin and Jeff to anyone in a similar position.
